Megalithic monuments

An added attractiveness, and we say this because to certain number of tourists are missing it, it is the great archaeological wealth of the island .The vestiges of the old inhabitants, with millennial antiques, sprinkle for dozens the fields of Minorca. The navetas that begin to be built B.C. toward the 1.500, are stone constructions, with funeral function that  receive their name because their form remembers an invested ship. The most spectacular is the Naveta d'es Tudons that is near Ciutadella.

The talaiotical culture that continues  in time to that of the navetas manufacturers,  receives their name of the characteristic construction of the period, the Talayot. These constructions can reach a dozen meters high, are towers built troncoconic with enormous stones, apparently with a defensive function. Have not arrived to our years with their corridors and interior cameras that are today demolished . In the proximities of some talayots still  remains the vestiges of the ols talaiotic villlages.    The taulas is the typical funeral monument of the talaiotic culture. This is formed by two enormous plane stones that  prepare an on the other one forming a great " T ". The religious purpose of the construction that is evident, leaves many queries on the exact function of the great T of stone, located in an enclosure formed by big vertical blocks.
