Menorca belonged to the British crown during almost the whole century eighteen.
Thousands of English soldiers garnished the island and they were clients of the taverns, where they didn't find the liquor then in fashion in their homeland:
the Gin.
Soon some artisansfrom Mahón found the solution to the problem:
to bring bay of juniper and to manufacture Gin in the island starting from the alcohol characteristic of the Mediterranean.
This way, the Gin was acclimatized with success in Menorca, consolidating as popular drink.
Already entered the XX century, of the purest family roots and artisans a mark arose:
Xoriguer, that began to bottle and to market with rigor a product that until then moved in a little more than local environment.
