The excursion we propose is to arrive walking to the unspoilt beaches that are located front of the island (or islet) d’en Colom. The starting point, the fishing village of Es Grau, is a typical urban development of second homes owned by Minorcans, rarely visited by foreign tourists. It’s nice to walk through the docks, where there are still some professional fishermen for lobster. This residential area is north of Mahon, take the detour on the road-Fornells Mahon. After visiting the village you may walk across the beach and edge the bay by a small path that starts at the opposite end of the beach. At this point we must not take the path of “Cami de Cavalls”, which would lead us inland away from our destination, but follow the road that borders the sea. The terrain is rocky and arid so you should wear suitable shoes, hat and drinks. It first reaches the small beaches that are on the opposite side of the village of Es Grau. There you can take a swim if you don`t wish to make the trip in one go, as it can take more than an hour. Then, rounding Cape Fra Bernat, already is seen in front the island of Colom, followed of beaches like S’arenal d’es Moro, and sa Torreta, with no access by road and are almost always empty. There is no such services, but the area is worth visiting. It should be go if the wind blows from the South or the West, to find the beaches in the best conditions. If you do not feel like walking, you can take a small boat that takes tourists to the Island d’en Colom, there is a small cove and picks them up in the afternoon, but this way you will not be able to visit the beaches mentioned.
